Nancy has had a passion for music from a very young age and has spent much of her career as a music educator promoting the value of the arts. Nancy’s work in this field has spanned many years across primary, secondary and tertiary levels and together with her current role as a CaPA Education Officer for Sydney Catholic Schools, is a lecturer at the University of Sydney and Australian Catholic University in music education for a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs.

As an Education Officer of the CaSPA program since its inception in 1999 (now known as Arts HQ), Nancy has been involved in leading numerous teacher professional learning and student talent development and ensemble programs.

Over the years, she has been invited to write teaching resources for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Education Program, K-6 Music Programming Units for NSW Department of Education, classroom ideas for music education texts for the University of Sydney as well as various educational journals focussing on effective music pedagogy.

Nancy has been actively involved in a variety of projects, conferences and groups to support the Music Curriculum across educational sectors including membership in the Music Education Advisory Group (MEAG), Department of Education Music Taskforce and the Creative Arts Cross-Sector Group which is currently leading discussions towards the formulation of the new curriculum.

With a particular passion for the voice, she has led a number of archdiocesan, regional, school and community choirs involving both young students and adults and her vocal coaching extends into the private domain. She has taken a major role in choral direction for a number of large-scale performances on behalf of Sydney Catholic Schools including: Jubilee 2000, Reconciliation 2000, Celebrate 2000, Bridges (2004), Entertaining Angels (2005), World Youth Day (2008) Choir (2008) and Tell Me a Story (2012). Nancy believes that music and the arts in general, are pivotal to what makes us truly human. She is excited to keep learning new ways to connect with others so they can continue to be inspired to discover their creative self.
