The Murrawadeen Goodjarga Program provides opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to strengthen their connection to culture through storytelling, dance, drama, music and the visual arts.
2026 Goodjarga Highlights:
This year Sydney Catholic Schools will be participating in the Bangarra Dance Theatre “Rekindling Youth Program”. The Rekindling Youth Program is Bangarra’s long-standing community initiative that reconnects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to cultural knowledge through dance. The core objectives of the program are to connect participants with local community Elders, their stories, language and Country, develop creative and performance skills through Contemporary Indigenous Dance and to build pathways for future artistic and cultural engagement.
35 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from the Botany/Randwick Network will be working alongside Bangarra tutors in Week 3 Week 8 to devise their own choreography. The program will culminate in a community performance at Corpus Christi College Maroubra.
The Murrawadeen Goodjarga program nurtures the creative skills of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and develops whole school community understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and language.
