Jane Simmons is a highly experienced drama teacher, practitioner and administrator who joins us from 10 years at the Department of Education’s Arts Unit, where she was the NSW Public Schools Drama Performance Officer. She was the production manager and director of the HSC showcase, OnStage, the State Drama Festival, and the Drama Director of Schools Spectacular.
Awards include the Drama NSW Lifetime Achievement in 2022 and the Australian College of Educators Team Leadership in 2015. Jane has also presented at international, national and state conferences, been a leading contributor of educational digital resources, and, in addition to her role with Sydney Catholic Schools, is the pre-service drama tutor at Sydney University.
Previously a head of department and senior HSC marker, Jane has trained with Keith Johnstone in improvisation and still performs with Theatresports today. Jane is passionate about drama and arts education.
